Lynne Carter

My lifetime involvement with goats began with the dairy goat industry as a child and moved forward to running a commercial Angora enterprise on a farming property in Esperance, WA in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
On returning to South Australia I established our small Angora herd at Moonta on the Yorke Peninsular along with my husband, Don, forming Lynndon Grove Angora Stud some 19 years ago.
Recently also forming a Pure African Line of Angoras to enhance the breeding diversity of our stock with the formation of Amarula Stud with Andrew Gossip of Cedar Grange Angoras.
Currently we are running 300-400 angoras seasonally.
In my 30 year experience within the industry I have been a witness, as well as a conscientious participant, in the changes for breeding quality Mohair.
I have systematically selected and used quality genetics – a stand out feature of our herd for many years now. We have been rewarded many times for the mohair type that we can produce from Kid through to Adult hair from our breeding stock.

Since 1999 I have been involved with industry events and as well as holding many positions on Boards and State goat Industry Committees.
In the past 7 years I have helped facilitate the Youth Development within the Mohair Industry as there is a need to educate, train and encourage our interested Youth to be a part of the succession planning for future Mohair Producers.
Our recent trip to South Africa, we experienced firsthand the processing of raw Mohair into finished yarn and mohair products. This was an invaluable experience and it has helped us understand the need for quality mohair production and marketing, for Australian Mohair producers.
